“You know, be able to do something great in your life, you're gonna have to realize your failures. You're gonna have to embrace them and figure out how to overcome it.”

Parent Open House/Progress Report Pick Up - September 13th, 2018

Students Dismissed at 12:30

Open House from 6pm – 8pm

Parents will be able to drop in to meet teachers, sign-up for Google Classroom, and pick up first quarter progress reports at your home site from 6pm- 8pm.

Google Classroom Launch

MC2 STEM High School will be participating in a suite of web based online tools to enhance your child’s learning.  We have introduced Google Apps for Education to all of our students. We are excited as this represents an important step in our digital learning plan towards teaching 21st century skills to all students.

Beginning this fall, MC2 STEM has provided all students in grades 9-12 with a Google Apps account, which includes email (ending in @mc2stemhighschool.org).  Google Apps for Education is free and is used by many school districts worldwide.  Comprised of powerful productivity and collaboration tools, it will allow students and teachers to work together on projects via the web and in real time.   Google Apps integrates directly with Google Gradebooks. Google Gradebook is a mastery grading system that allows students and parents to receive notifications and online access to grades on a weekly basis, or more if you select to receive them more often!

Students are not required to have a personal computer, mobile device or Internet at home to participate.

Benefits of Google Apps for Education (GAFE)

  • Google Drive- available anywhere from any device with Internet access, drive provides cloud storage of documents, photos, videos, and more online

  • Storage space - online cloud storage of up to 30GB for email, documents and files, eliminating the need for flash drives

  • Google Calendar - keep track of important assignments and school activities

  • Google Docs – create documents, tables, forms, drawings, and spreadsheets. The presentation editor creates slide shows with animation and videos.

  • Google Sites- a web design tool

  • Gmail – students can send and receive electronic messages. Students can only send or receive email messages from teachers or other students at Faribault Schools or from only school approved domains.  In addition, student email and Internet access will be filtered as required by the federal Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) to protect student’s online safety.

  • Google Classroom (NEW)– creates a paperless classroom where students can upload assignments to their teachers

Google Apps are intended for educational purposes only. Your student’s teachers will use Google Apps for lessons, assignments and communication in a structured manner.  Students will be instructed that their Google Apps account is an extension of the classroom and that use of their account is subject to the same rules of appropriate classroom behavior that is expected for their school. OVER THE NEXT WEEK, PARENTS WILL RECEIVE CLASSROOM INVITATIONS FROM ALL CLASSES AT THE EMAIL ADDRESS PROVIDED
